Your final point about ' It's a modern frame of mind, engaging with reality instead of striking poses minted during the Johnson administration' just shows you how many AAs and to a lesser extent British blacks like me have to adapt to a changing environment. The main thrust of Carribean immigration occured 60 years ago to the UK, since that time waves of immigration has occured. Many Carribeans are wealthy homeowners who rent out properties to newer comers. I always think how I as a married middle class black man, with a Polish cleaner look to the average Eastern European. Often I get silent 'dirty looks' from these guys.
