The Soviet buffer zone was really about grabbing as much of Eurpoe as they could exploit, as part of a bid to spread dictatorship around the world. Go read what they wrote at the time!
Since the 1990s we have helped countries achieve freedom and stability on their own terms. Why is freedom so threatening to Russia?
