What has the mayor bought with the hefty increase in taxes he has saddled the people with.

Given the advent of a fairly middle-of-the-road Republican candidate, what advantage will be gained by sending a moderate leftwing Democrat apostate to the White House. Is it not more likely that this political opportunist will split the middle and rightwing vote and so help a dedicated leftist--either Clinton or Obama--into the office of President? But perhaps you and he are well aware of it.
