Well I'm not sure of every philanthropic deed for which they are responsible but I do know that the Pintchiks started and completely fund the ParK Slope Volunteer ambulance corps. I find it funny that when it comes to developing, local residents usually despise the outsiders who come in to a new neighborhood and develop or over-develop, this time around it is a family who has been local since 1912.

I'm sure when a family has a history with a neighborhood such as theirs, they want to see the area develop with integrity, so whereas they can not do anything about what other developers do in their neghborhood, they do have the ability to fix up their properties in the manor that keeps with the charm of it's history.

It is unfortunate that as area's become more desirable , prices go up, but fixing up your property is something every tenant wishes their landlord would do. However landlords can only get in rent what the market will bear. A landlord cannot raise the rent because they did work to an apartment, they raise it because thats what they can get on the fair market.

It should be up to the city, state, and federal govt. to assist families through programs that allow lower and middle class families as well as some of the neighborhoods early inhabitants to prevent displacement.
