It's a strange world we live in when the head of one religion advocates tolerance for another religion above what the surrounding secular society advocates; usually it is the secular authorities saying, "can't we all just get along?" But, more germane here is the fact that it is anathama to any concept of western enlightenment to allow Shariah law to be practiced. Should we allow female circumcission (really, castration), forced marriages, virtual female slavery, or even enforced dress codes (beyond the far looser indecency laws)? Should we allow men to be forced to grow beards, forced to pray five times a day, and encourage them to sublimate (in the full Freudian sense of the word) their normal desires in order to replace them with thoughts of violent martyrdom? Should we sacrifice another generation of Muslim children to an isolated and hate-filled educational system that teaches them propaganda instead of knowledge and facts? This might be the place to point out that the Islamist concept of truth is different from the Western notion. In the West, at least post-enlightenment, we've come to believe that truth is what actually is in the world. To the Islamist mind, truth is what is most forcefully, or perhaps, charismatically, asserted. There must be a lot of Charisma going on to make the British genuflect to the Muslim minority so much. If this keeps up, in time they'll be accomodating them due to being forced.
