Therapists Are Advised To Take Precautions

No one knows who killed this unfortunate psychologist and yet E. Fuller Torrey and the Treatment Advocacy Center don't let that stop them from grabbing the chance to spread disinformation, stigma and fear about people living with mental illness.

There is no evidence that people with bipolar disorder or schizophrenia who are not abusing drugs are more likely to be violent than anyone else.

There is also absolutely no evidence that attacks on mental health professionals are caused by delusions. There is evidence in a study by David Fink et. al. that the best predictor of violence against staff in an inpatient unit is angry behavior and/or personality characteristics of professionals, particularly of psychiatric resident physicians.

But don't let the truth get in the way of your campaing to make the public afraid of everyone living with mental illness Dr. Torrey.
