New Database Will Track Guns Used in Crimes

Submitted by kenny, Feb 14, 2008 11:53

Mayor Bloomberg is not concerned with fighting crime or reducing gun violence. He's on a personal agenda to attack the legal firearms industry. All this federal trace data that he claims the federal government won't release is a lie. This trace data is accessible to law enforcement officials for ongoing criminal investigations. It is not accessible to the public or politicians that want blanket access to this data. The mayor can access federal trace data by asking his police commissioner to request it, but is not accessible to mayors or civilians, as public access to this info can jeopardize undercover law enforcement officers conducting sting operations. Mayor Bloomberg needs to spend his time and taxpayers dollars on fighting crime, not to further his personal anti-gun agenda by attacking the firearms industry and our Second Amendment rights.
