Cultural and societal values demean formal education. In the U.S., we value hip-hop, not Mozart; the Street, not high-brow culture, where education is a value. We are a politically correct society and low reading and math scores are the result. Educational will improve when we acknowledge reality, and get down to hard work. Don't kid yourself, learning is hard work, not FUN.
