I truly believe that given the stress of working in urban public schools, this early retirement plan is beneficial to the teachers who have twenty five years of service and more. However, the problem is who are we going to hire to replace not only the large number of teachers that will retire, but also the large number of school and district leaders that are going to retire since they are included in this piece of legislation? We already have a shortage of qualified math, science and foreign language teachers. Finding appropriate school and district leaders is also difficult.
