New Plan on Air Traffic Here Envisages Rivers as ‘Runways'
in response to reader comment: Seaplanes in New York

My company Aquavion Aircraft Limited, has been developing an amphibious seaplane of composite construction since 1998 and have constructed a 0.5 scale version of this aircraft for water and flight testing during the spring of 2008. The full size aircraft will also be under construction by 2009. It will carry six people and have an onboard galley, as well as head and shower combo and will be outfitted with sleeping berths fore and aft in the stand-up headroom fuselage. This aircraft could be easily scaled to commercial short haul airliner and this has been done on our CAD workstation. Our website is www.seastryder.com .

I agree with the previous commentor, Yves Bissonnette, that the seaplanes could use the lower altitude corridor to prevent further congestion and that a good example of a regularly scheduled commercial seaplane operation is Harbour Air in Vancouver, BC.
