Parents Ask for School Cell Phone Ban To Be Lifted

Submitted by LMH, Feb 16, 2008 00:34

It just isn't legit for a school to ban cell phones. No student is going to shoot another student with a cell phone. It doesn't matter if they are disruptive, if students use them to cheat, or what. The school can enforce rules against disruptions and cheating without banning cell phones. Students have rights too, and it isn't legit to limit them just to make the police's job easier. I consider this an abuse of authority. How hard is it to have the student put their keys and cell phones aside before walking through the metal detector and then taking them back right after?
