When it came to the actual fighting, WWII was a war between Germany and her allies and Russia and her allies. No amount of Hollywood mythology can obsure this fact. The Eastern Front was where soldiers got killed. America and Britain had vital roles supplying Russia but their casualty counts on the Western Front show that they had small combat roles.
