Elections Board Could Face Grilling Over Primary Numbers

Fire the workers. Henry-the Board of Elections has a hard enough time getting workers!

I know how to get competent (?) workers. Simply require all members of the bar that to renew their licenses they must work the polls at least once a year. (i know they are required to provide pro bono services, but this is a nice touch.) Lawyers ssem to have enough time to be poll watchers. How about shifting to Poll workers?

And let me see a lawyer get every instruction in an 80 page manual right after taking a 3 hour class.

Actually, I have advocated that the training classes focus as follows-the morning class focus on Opening Procedures; The Afternoon class focus on mid ady situations such as Affidavits; and the Evening class focus on Closing Procedures (including filing out the Return of Canvas). That way on a random basis workers would receive an AM, PM and PPM certification.

I assure you that the trainers (each of whom receives five days of training) work very hard and go over that 80 page book in detail in the three hours they are on their feet in front of the class.

I suggest that the trainers pay be increased from $100 a class to $150; the class be extended 15 minutes and the poll workers pay be increased to $250 a 15 hour day. And each of the classes have a different docus (AM, Middle and PM).
