Elections Board Could Face Grilling Over Primary Numbers

Submitted by Jay O'Callaghan, Feb 19, 2008 23:53

I am not surprised that a Board of Elections that has very little transparency for its election results by precinct ends up having such incredible mistakes.

Full transparency should be required for all election results by precinct on the websites of election officials.

The fact that New York City, most major NYC suburbs as well as Philadelphia and its suburbs do not report precinct results so that the public can see them on the Internet is a shocking lack of
transparency and lack of public disclosure.

If they were required to report them on the Internet there would have a much greater incentive
to be accurate and citizen activists would be able to help correct these errors.
