the police should not be the gatekeeper for press passes, particularly for passes to cover their own police department. this is clearly a conflict of interest. and the police are going to look bad for coming down on their critic. the city needs a new policy and the journalist should get a press pass so he can continue to cover the police. somebody has to do it.
