Yes Thinkgra, the founding fathers DID understand and forsee the fact that weapons in the future (todays weapons) would be invented.
How could they know this?? Because a large number of our founding fathers were, themselves, inventors. These men had seen changes and improvements to firearms, cannons, ships, rockets ("rockets red glare the bombs bursting in air"), etc. during their lifetimes. They knew that future generations would also have inventors, who would be inspired to invent by the biographies of men such as Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington. The founding fathers KNEW that these same, faster, better weapons would also be available to governments and to criminals, so the honest man should exercise his right to own such arms, themselves.
As far as the number of people living in cities, the founding fathers often were in America after LEAVING BIG CITIES, such as Paris, France and London, England. The concept of large buildings and people living close together had already occurred. With men such as Jefferson, who was an architect/designer/inventor, the idea of building bigger and better was often in his thoughts.
The whole argument AGAINST GUNS is based on the fact that people in power, ALWAYS WANT TO ABUSE THAT POWER! It is an unfortunate part of man and nature that the desire to always have more power will cause the strong or the wealthy to harm anyone or anything in their path. It is the right to protect yourselves that allows the weak and the poor to survive and possibly overcome this abuse of power. The fact that ALL of our Presidential candidates seem COMPLETELY WILLING to take away this basic right, shows that they all wish to help the corrupt people in power, and to prevent the average person from being able to resist this OPEN ATTEMPT TO WEAKEN AVERAGE AMERICANS FOR THE BENEFIT OF A SELECT FEW! IT IS ONLY PEOPLE WHO ARE PLANNING TO DESTROY OUR DEMOCRACY WHO WOULD NEED TO WEAKEN ITS CITIZENS.
