Sorry Scott, prisoners do have the same fundamental rights as anyone else, however, due to their actions (i.e. committing felonies) society has decided they are not allowed to exercise those rights. The government enforces that choice through the threat of force, the only way to deprive a man of his fundamental rights. Comparing the rights of a group of felons to free men who are not felons is disingenous and foolish.

Further, the founders did envision this and specifically discussed that. There are numerous quotes from them discussing criminals or mentally defective individuals not being extended the fundamental right to keep and bear arms. Do some research and keep your arguments grounded in reality.
