Did you see the Democratic debate from Austin? The Univision moderator is a pretty accurate reflection of your average Hispanic-American. Two of his questions were...

1.) Can we stop raids and deportations that separate illegal immigrant parents and their anchor babies?

2.) Can we be a bilingual nation?

It has been rare that I have seen a Hispanic-American (be they a reporter or politician or just your average citizen) display even the slightest hint of concern for border security or workplace enforcement. Basically, the majority of Hispanic-Americans want to know a.) when are my people going to get their amnesty?, and b.) when are we going to be able to stop pretending we want to - and are willing to - learn English?

Illegal immigrants and their (primarily Hispanic-American) supporters say over and over that illegal immigrants want to integrate into American society, want to learn English, want to earn the privilege to stay here and become citizens. However, these people cut the legs out from under their own arguments by marching up and down American streets waving the flags of their native countries (principally, Mexico) while carrying signs in Spanish demanding "amnistia ahora" ("amnesty now"). If it weren't for the seriousness of the situation, I would find the whole thing amusing.
