In your quote, Obama does not say that he supports vouchers. He would support them if there is evidence that they work. Where is that evidence? Everything I have heard or read about vouchers (coming from people who actually understand the system) derides them as an empty solution. Obama never said he supported them, but if you can show Obama that they work, he has said that he will change his mind.

Obama is still a strong supporter of merit based pay, which flies in the face of the conventional democratic party beliefs. He even had the audacity to say so in a speech in front of the teacher's union.

McCain, on the other hand, does not even have education listed as one of his issues on his campaign website (www.johnmccain.com). He is merely repeating the Republican orthodoxy. That is not courageous straight talk.
