Despite Tennessee's Play, SEC a Weak Conference

Submitted by Jim Backus, Feb 25, 2008 17:09

Kentucky's 9–3 in SEC play, but they've grown fat against cupcake opponents and sport several ugly losses on their non-conference schedule.

Two of the cupcake opponents that UK has gotten fat on are Vanderbilt and Tennessee - Are you writing from the Big East Press luncheon?

That being said - the SEC is WAY down this year - it is doubtful that Memphis, Tennessee or UK will make a splash in reality - if you've actually watched these teams play - UK is legitimately one player away from being an impact team (sic R. Morris, NY Knicks). Nonetheless, this is the most wideopen tournament ever. I will pull for my UK Cats to do what they do best - play inspired and make a run - not only in the SEC Tournament - but for the title. The SEC is UK's until someone takes it from them - that of course could happen this week - but teams come and go in the SEC - save UK.
