If Republicans aren't going to mount a campaign worthy of Alan Keyes or Bob Dole, they will need to show the relevance of sound conservative principles like fiscal restraint and regulation that preserved market competition. And we need more Republicans who uphold values that don't involve vice cops in restrooms or emails to Congressional pages. In short, Republicans need to act like...Republicans...instead of K Street lobbyists.
Principles like personal values, fiscal restraint, competitive market orientation....even Mr. Steyn can't exaggerate their importance.
