In Cleveland, Obama Speaks on Jewish Issues

I believe that violence has a life of its own with its own self serving and self justifying values and efforts.

I also believe that the world religions birthed in the the middle east carry the extremes the cycles of violence which draw from the people's own histories and tendencies for revenge regardless of what the founders of their religions believe or taught.

I believe the brave efforts and dreams of people like Isaac Rabin, may God/Allah bless his soul, continue to give me hope that it is possible to create a better world. I also believe that the power of hope which brings light to all people cannot be stopped. I believe the light of shalom and a peaceful community will shine even when there appears to no fuel or oil for the fragile ember of love, respect, peace, dignity and human compassion. Maybe that is empty rhetoric to the "real politique" of the hard core pragmatists or committed extremists some who want the end time for some expected rapture or whatever.
