Labor Strife Hits Hospitals Amid Nursing Shortage

As with any labor situation there has to be a match between compensation, working conditions and the current labor pool. The Nursing shortage is no more real than Never Never Land. Hospital execs love to site the "Nursing Shortage" as a legitimate excuse for poor patient care, this because from an outside observer seems to be out of thier control. It is not! It is their responsibility to hire and retain staff. If they are having a difficult time attracting good people, they must increase compensation like everyother business in America. Welcome to the free market! If I offered only $20 to every plumber in the phone book to come out on a cold night to fix my sink, none would show up. Would I then be allowed to claim there is a plumber shortage?
