Gun Control Isn't Crime Control
in response to reader comment: Approval Of John Stossel's Article:Gun Control Isn't Crime Control

Submitted by John House, Feb 27, 2008 20:52

I am not sure how many gun related crimes occur per capita in the United States compared to other countries. However, I am aware of countries with rigid gun control who have fought armed insurgencies with great difficulty. I have also heard accounts where a skilled marksperson saved his life and those of his family by appropriate use of a hand gun.

But the next step is the people problem. I see more hand guns on prime time TV than I care to remember. I am told they are prominent in video games also. Frankly, the conduct in a vintage John Wayne movie could put an emulator in prison for a long long time.

The next step is for our media and entertainment industries to focus on real people with interesting lives who solve their problems the way you and I solve ours. That seldom involves a hand gun.
