Wait May Foil Immigrants' Right To Vote

Submitted by davenjan, Feb 28, 2008 00:26

as these immigrants are NOT YET citizens, and only citizens have a right to vote. That right has not yet been given to them. Their ability to vote in this year's election may be delayed due to unforseen problems, but a delay is not a denial. A delay means you did not get your application in to them in time to be processed; a denial means you got it turned in within the time period required but are being refused the chance to vote. There is a huge difference in these two. Both will have the person not able to vote, but whereas the first is legal and unavoidable, the second is totally illegal. My congratulations to all the new citizens!
