A lot of people in Canada are pretty upset at a lot of clauses put into the NAFTA agreement which limits our control over resource exports. Taking a second look at the agreement would allow us to deal with a lot of the issues in the agreement while maintaining a trade-friendly atmosphere. Emerson doesn't have much support in Canada after the softwood deal he negotiated (another flaw in NAFTA) so I wouldn't take anything he says as being representative of the country. People who have seen the shortcomings of the agreement know it needs work. Emerson was trade minister when there were calls in Canada to withdraw from NAFTA because it was ineffective in forcing the US's hand in the softwood affair so him suggesting that it doesn't need to be re-looked at is ridiculous.
