Reader comment on:
William F. Buckley Jr.

Submitted by Shalom Freedman, Feb 28, 2008 02:53

This piece is right on the mark. William F. Buckley Jr. was a great American original, a man who had the guts to walk to the sound of his own drummer, to defy prevalent opinion and eventually transform the whole intellectual climate of America. His capacity to inform was only exceeded by the somewhat devlish delight with which he did this. Like so many others I enjoyed him for many years on 'Firing Line' and to a lesser extent by reading his columns.

He will be sorely missed for all those for whom American intellectual and political life is dear.
