Billionaire Turns Attention To Torah's Commandments

Submitted by Tom Kruzen, Feb 29, 2008 01:52

Surely the recipients of Ira Leon Rennert's grants, gifts, bequests and scholarships must be aware of how the man makes his billions. His companies are legendary in their polluting practices, poisoning thousands of people in North and South America. The town where his polymetallic smelter operates in La Oroya, Peru puts that town as the most polluted city in the Western Hemisphere. Most of La Oroya's 30,000 inhabitants are lead-poisoned and 18, 000 of them are children. His Doe Run Lead Mining Company and US Magnesium make him the largest private polluter in North America carelessly releasing toxic materials into our air, water and land, ultimately poisong us.. These are such outstanding achievements and the poisoning of thousands of people are hardly in line with Rennert's own "Torah Ethics Project" in which he states: "each of us ought to be constantly mindful of the imperative of Kiddush Hashem (behavior that adds luster to God's sacred name), so as to bring honor to Jews, to Torah, and, ultimately, to God."It would be nice in the eyes of Jahweh, if Ira Leon Rennert would live according to the wisdom of the Torah. -Tom Kruzen Mountain View, Missouri
