Giving Families The Choice

Ms. Liesner's comments carry merit, but I have to ask what constitutes education? I remember Kindergarten in my day as community play time (coloring books only). Recently a teacher complained to me that she was teaching her pre-K class to take multiple choice tests. Needless to say, she did not consider "No Child Left Behind" a constructive program.

It seems our educational systems have many resources and little consensus as to what we should accomplish. I think a good clue is what the child wants to do. Van Cliburn's mother began teaching him piano at age 3, because she mistook his play at the piano for her student's practice.
