One basic comment. If Lord Black felt, as he obviously does, that the charges and conviction are, at the least, misguided and unsupported by the evidence, then he had the perfect forum to illustrate this, and thereby secure a full acquittal - in court, at the trial, by testifying.
Of course, he would have been subject to cross examination, where many of his own statements could be challenged.
He chose not to. Hmmm.
