A Lyrical Tribute, From One Songwriter to Another

I am disappointed that this reviewer cut Tyne Daly so much slack. In the performance I saw on Saturday night, she consistently forgot lines, or could not read the lines off the sheet music. Why in the world she is up on stage totally unprepared, is another story. How can a pro do an event honoring a songwriter, and then forget or flub the words to his songs again and again? That's disrepect--for the artist and the audience--if you ask me.

The second time Ms. Daly screwed up, I actually booed and called out, "Learn the lyrics!" and was shooshed for being rude. Actually, I think Ms. Daly is the rude one, for letting down the audience, the material and the director.

I saw Ms. Daley do Gypsy on Broadway, and she was magnificent. She is one of the prime reasons I went in the first place. She was a huge disappointment.

I agree with the reviewer that the other two female singers were not up to the material. Another shame. I have seen more polished productions in community theater--better preparation and better talent!
