Giuseppe di Stefano, 86, Met Tenor Loved by Callas

Submitted by Modesto Fontanez, Mar 4, 2008 19:15

No doubt that Di Stefano had the most beautiful tenor voice of our present generation. This was a true Italian sound and a gorgeous one at that. His vocal deterioration and vocal demise was one purely of flawed technique with a wide, spread sound and lack of diaphragmatic support. He also unwisely took on too heavy operatic repertoire as well. Still, he is one of my favorites !!
