Leader: Colombia's Military Action Puts Region at Risk

The use of "death squads" are a significant element of terror. Unfortunately they are a persistent complication to every Latin American insurgency. We can only hope that precedents bringing their leaders to justice after the conflict removes these parasites.

However, we cannot overlook the FARC's use of terror or the fact that narcotics trade, not popular appeal, supports FARC.

So I ask, was Ecuador supporting a very nasty insurgency? If not, why the fuss about a limited operation to attack the trespassers? If the FARC personnel entered with Ecuador's permission, Colombia is only attacking the sanctuary of a very dangerous enemy.
