Beasley is a player you can build a franchise around. The Derrick Coleman comparisons are not warranted except in terms of raw talent. Beasley continues to play hard every night for an overmatched, psychotic coach and a horrible team that is falling apart around him. One of the knocks on him is that while he is unselfish on the floor, he tends to yell at his teammates a lot. Well, if you watch much K-State basketball, you understand why. He's not yelling for the ball so he can put up more stats -- he wants to win and gets tired of the stupid decisions of his more selfish and less talented teammates.

For this reason, I would hate to see him get drafted into another dysfunctional situation with the Knicks. And Vince Carter wouldn't be a good influence either. If a team could purge its negative influences and build around him with high-character, team-oriented players like the Blazers and Sonics are trying to do with Oden and Durant, he would really thrive. If he ends up on the Knicks watching Marbury and Crawford jack up ill-advised shots and fighting over space in the lane with Randolph and Curry, he won't reach his potential.
