" Do not seperate text from historical background. If you do, you will have perverted and subverted the Constitution, which can only end in a distorted, bastardized form of illegitimate government.
James Madison
" The Constitution preserves the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation where governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."
James Madison
If the author of the second amendments thoughts weren't clear enough for those doubters. Then let his own words be their guide. James Madison made refference through several papers as to the right of the people to own weapons. You must look back to the time at which this was written and remeber what Americans had just gone through. The King of England was advised to disarm the citizens of America for fear of exactly what happened. Our founding fathers new this and guaranteed that it would never take place here in America. Words can be twisted to meet ones needs but when reading the words spoken by the man himself it is almost impossible and implauseable to argue the point.
"People", That term used through out the Bill of Rights has historicaly been viewed as meaning individual. If the second amendment meaning of people is seen as a collective right. Hold on to your seats cause every other right can then be construed as meaning collective when the term people is used. Wake up people this isn't just going to affect gun owner's rights but all of our rights.
