The Future of Commuting

Submitted by Manhattan Downtowner, Mar 7, 2008 12:01

Let's be real, the congestion pricing scheme is tax, plain and simple, and it would certainly hurt small businesses who would feel the crunch from the added delivery expenses - this would then trickle to the consumer.

The Mayor and D.O.T. and NYPD have not even taken care of 150,000 parking permits that exist and continue to cost the City $46-million a year in lost parking meter revenue alone - this problem needs to be addressed first!

This City is not prepared for another huge longterm tax, and the plan is flawed in so many ways - New Jersey drivers will hardly be affected since the toll is deducted from the congestion tax up front - where is the reduction in congestion there?

The "vision" that the Mayor has is tinted green - all I see is the vision of everyone's pockets being emptied.
