Pope Readies a Challenge to Catholic Educators

Submitted by Stefaan Hublou, Mar 8, 2008 08:35

I have read the whole of this article with interest.

And I feel that indeed, there is a clash of Civilisations going on here. The Vatican uses a different approach of life - and the Great Themes like Life, Love, Death, Peace and Suffering - then the people that have understood Charles Darwin well.

In my country (Belgium) most of the theologians declare that they accept Darwinism "there is no probleme there" they say, but they have not started to understand the issue; and in press and media a great debate is gaining momentum.

How can you talk of the resurrection of the flesh of the Messiah Jeshua when you understand biology, fysiology (the brain needs oxygen every four minutes!) and medicine well?

How can you speak publicly of "the virgin birth" in a era where fysiology is a clear science?

How can we catholics speak out the words of the creed during mass celebration
and speak of prohet, thora -and scribe critic, healer and teacher Jeshua-Jesus as "the only son of God"?
As a member of the species Homo sapiens, my links with the historical Jesus are not strong and do not have to be strong.
The oldest parts of the old religious myths have lost their meaning and more, they have become a repellent for people that seek spiritual deepening in their lives.

The mysteries of life, like death, love, sex, pain and peace, can be approached in other good ways than through the doctrine of the Vatican.

Darwin is a goldmine that only just has been enticed.

I like the humorous and very intelligent books by Richard Dawkins, I just finished "The God Delusion".
He likes jesus! He is against obscurantism.
It is a rivetting read, that will help this Global Village World to a new and adequate Worldview.

PS. I regularly write letters to his Holiness Benedict in Rome. I believe they have influence on the man.
