My name is Xiong Guangpu (Donald). I am a Chinese of age 73 now living in Beijing. I went to your Friday Restaurant once with my family, and discovered a lot of LP envelopes on the wall that really thrilled me a lot. I have been in the States around the period 1986-1990, while I was searching the Sarvation Army, Goodwill , backyard sale, or any posible place for used LPs from1940s to early 1970s. By the time I went back to China, I had around 2,000 copies in hand, mostly Pop, Jazz, Country and some Classics. As China had been blocked to meet the outer world for some time, people seldom got in touch with those musics. Since I have such treasure, I determined to build a musicle net namely Panda123.cn to introduce such musics in Chinese to the public, starting 2000.
I was born in Shanghai at a semi musical family. My father went to the States, sudying Banking at Philadelphia and Music Entertainment at Oberlin. When he came back, he brought a Victrolar graophone and a lot of records both pop and classic. My mother played piano, and had been a piano teacher. At my 5 years old birthday, I got 3 records as present(I Love to Whistle by Deanna Durbin, Flower Song by Bobby Breen and Hi-Ho Song from Snow White). After the Second World War, My mother's brother Paul Chang brought a lot of records of America Pops back to home (he later went to the States and lived there), that's the kind of environment I was surrounded.
As I have pretty much materials to support my net, and still seeking for CDs of my kind of music, but never got the 'enough' feeling. I wonder if you still have the bare LPs with you without much usage, mayabe we can have a deal, that is, I might bring a statement on my net about you and your restaurant while you send me those LPs. What do you think?
