I just want to echo Father Kowalski's statement that Maguire and his generation are the source of the problem. Fortunately, all the JP II and Benedict-era theologians that are up and coming are rock solid. Wait 10-15 years and all of the 60's-era folks like Maguire and so many of the current Catholic university presidents will have retired and the new evangelization will be in full bloom. We just need to prune the older tress a bit.
