Our Stand Against Castro's Cuba
in response to reader comment: support people end bloqueo

Yes, open the door but then, what? For the past fifty year the Castro government had its doors open to many democratic countries. Unfortunately those who unconditionally support the regime were allowed to speak there and have contact with the population. It's is a fallacy to believe that once the embargo is lifted, contact with the people from the USA will bring the must needed changes in Cuba. Do people from the USA have the magic twig of democracy? If so why it does not work in China and other countries with repressing regimes? What is that people from USA have that in relation to democracy, that other democratic people don't? None can solve the terrible situation in Cuba but the Cuban people. The good intentioned individuals of this country should not cooperate with the Castro's brothers government in any way. Going there is tantamount to drop dollars in their coffers and extend the suffering of the people. This is hard to understand for someone that is not being inside the monster of Communism. The Castro brothers will never allow any one to go there and see the reality of the country. There are beaches, hotels, areas of Havana city out of limits for national. They are harass and some time put in jail if they trespass into those places. The limits and the agents controlling them are invisibles to foreigners. It is an invisible reality inside of what foreigners see. This is the only real achievement of the regime. That is were the money that tourist spend in the country going to. At this moment there are thousands of Castro's agents blocking any contact between the population and the outside world. That is the real blockade. At the same time the culture of fear and intimidation impose during fifty years, does not allow the people to articulate there situation because there is not dissident discourse available for them. Yes, contact with outsiders will benefit the Cubans but only without the interference of the regime. Let us to get rid of the muzzle and then we will able to talk and build the new society that we deserve. Only after that we can benefit from the contact with the good people of the USA.
