In spite of the honorable service of the two Muslim American military men featured in the article, the statistics at the end of the piece suggest that Muslim-Americans are significantly underrepresented in the American military vis a vis their numbers in the American population. What might account for this? What is taught or expected in the Muslim-American community, and especially in the mosques, about participation in the American military?
