I am a firm believer on that fact that any leader with such an important role as Spitzer), must set a decent example on others, and what's more, should undoubtedly oblige to his own rules or so-called 'beliefs'. There's great irony in how the very man who campaigned for a clampdown on prostitution related activities did the very thing he wasn't meant to. It's a matter of principle; if he chose to
Why should there be double standards for him? If another man did it, with full knowledge of what he was doing, he would also get punished; then why do we spare Spitzer?
The only problem that I do have for this is that we are also losing (at least what I thought was) a 'good' Governor to NY on matters aside from this. I can understand where people are coming from when they say that all New Yorkers will effectively face a long-term loss over his resignation. With the best interests of NY at heart, perhaps a better 'punishment' would be to strip his position as Governor, or indeed postpone the resignation so that power is handed-down systematically and properly, and the new Governor knows full well what is role is and where he currently stands.
