The investigation that led to the Spitzer resignation was begun as a money-laundering probe. It became clear when the probers asked about certain transactions and who was responsible, the former Governor's name came up

By the way, do these so called "Progressives" ( really Retrogressives,in myownview) know the character assassinationa performed regularly by Spitzer. One such method was used to destroy Richard Grasso. Mr. Grasso was forced out as President of the NYSE. You remember the slogan" The World Puts its Stock in Us"? That was under Mr. Grasso's leadership. The NYSE flourished and grew apace. The NYSE board awarded Mr. Grasso a handome compensation package. To guote one of thh Board members - Carl NcCall- "noone ever deserved these rewards more". Mr. Grasso had begun his Wall Street career about 50 years earlier as a runner and worked himself up over five decades of uncompromisingly honest dedicatory service. But Spitzer envisioned the headlines "Spitzer Brings down Head of The New York Stock Exchange". To Spitzer the accomplishment of this dream was worth pursuing no matter how many "individuals" he ruined in the process - innocent or not. When Mr. Spitzer began his witch hunt after Mr. Grasso, Mr.Grasso held a news conference which I witnessed and heard. Mr. Grasso said that it wasnot he, but the NYSE Board that determind his compensation. However, he continued, if there are questions that the moneyis too much, Mr. Grasso stated, I'll be happy to discuss the matter thoroughly and am willing to return whatever percentage is determined to be excessive. This meant nothing to Mr. Spitzer who proceeded to threaten Carl McCall and Mr. Grasso. The threats were numerous and far-ranging. Mr. Grasso is pursing the matter legally after having had to step down in recognition of the enormous distractions produced by Mr. Spitzer's accusations.

In my view, Mr. Sptitzers' ruthlessness know no bounds of decency.

New York and America are just lucky that he "trapped" himself. He is so uncontrollably ruthless that I don't believe anyone else could have stopped him in his obsession to gain power.
