A lot of attention was paid to people celebrating this event: I believe that these were mostly people who felt a threat or suffered some minor damage. People who really suffered in their reputation and also financially probably do not see an easy redress for their problems, and prefer to keep quiet.
For us, the citizens of this country, this is more evidence that many prosecutors are quite ready to abuse their position and power. It is, in my opinion, the strongest argument against the death penalty. Thought should be given as to how to limit potential abuse of prosecutory power.
The examples that hit the headlines are only the most egregious cases. It is very easy for a prosecutor to decide cases mainly on the basis of whether a conviction can be obtained - and ignore the possibility that the party involved is not guilty. Here is already abuse.
