Revolution war inflation, followed by deflation until the war of 1812 inflation, followed by deflation till the Civil War inflation followed by deflation till WW1 inflation, which continued through Korea and Vietnam the entire duration of the Cold War through Volker's success in breaking it down to very mild inflation through to the 2nd Iraq war, which has seen gold and oil inflation throughout and now general inflation at a scary rate.
Of course, ethanol subsidies are raising food prices dramatically too, at the same time as they pump CO2 into the air.
