So in other words globalization is only responsible for 33 1/3 percent of the problem? That seems like a significant number and not one to be dismissed as a reason to look for a solution elsewhere. Because if we can reduce the number of hopeless kids by a third one year that number grows exponentially, If The Wire taught us anything it was these characters who we normally would dismiss as thugs and worthless had value and if circumstances had been different for them maybe their lives would have been much different. So if we can put 1/3 of them in the right direction, isn't that a victory. What kind a hero would Carcetti have been if he had reduced crime by 1/3? I am a teacher in the Los Angeles Public School system, South Central Los Angeles. The No Child Left Behind program is a disaster. The kids I am teaching need a whole different approach. We need a Bunny Colvin in all our inner city school systems.
