Immigration Chief Quits Amid Citizenship Surge
in response to reader comment: Immigration Chief resigns

I am the first to say that illegal immigration is frustrating in many ways. I have myself been unable to receive various services as they are overwhelmed (and thus closed) economically by illegal immigrants, yes, that is according to the agency themselves. I live among many immigrants who are able to receive services provided by the county as they work under the table, pay no taxes and as a result, are able to qualify for many benefits that I cannot and I am a full-time student. I find all of those things frustrating and I really don't wish to pay for people via my taxes who really are working. Most people I know fit into the above category. I love them, but I don't advocate their practices; as a taxpayer, I'm actually paying for them.

With all of that said, I really would like my husband, who is legally married to me, a U.S. citizen, to be able to join me here. He is not dying to come to the United States, he actually does quite well in his country. He wants to come here to be with me because I cannot speak the colonial language of his country, so moving there is not an option. The wait times are inhuman and trust me they are quite thorough in their enforcement of legal immigration. I am wondering when they will ask for his mother's gravesite. It's pretty ridiculous. It is because of all of the fraud that we have to suffer like this and because of long term inefficiencies in the processing of all of these documents. My husband and I recently lost our child and I have had to suffer here alone, go through surgery alone. We are both suffering depression. This is inhuman to separate families. The process need not take 12-18 months to allow a family to live together. We both speak English, are educated and simply wish to live together like normal people. At more than $1,000 and a ten year promise to support him, I think I've given enough. Please someone take some action!
