N.Y. Gun Laws in Balance as High Court Weighs D.C. Case

Submitted by A. Levy, Mar 18, 2008 16:10

NYC probably has the second toughest gun laws in the nation, after DC. In fact, they've been designed to stop any lawful citizen from getting a permit to legally own handgun. (The process has been made so difficult, that just about no one get's by it. Almost no one!) This law does, and has always made criminals very happy, as they don't have to worry about an armed victim. Apparently, NYC (especiall mayor Bloomberg) feels it's better that you be a victim than defend yourself, your home, and your family! Of course, the mayor has half a dozen armed NYPD Detectives with him at all times, so he's not worried in the least. As for the people? Well, they should just be nice, cooperative victims.

Another "strange" aspect of NYC's gun laws, (see: ban) is that if you "know the right people in govt." you'll have no problem getting a permit to carry a weapon. There is no city in the country that has as many armed Rabbi's, or members of the media, than NYC! Why they need to be armed i can not answer. I do know that most people in this city who do have a carry permit, have it only to show-off at parties and let their friends know that they have some political "pull"! As for everyone else? Well, you're on your own!

And remember, it's not guns that kill people, it's people who kill people! And the best way to curb that is not by disarming law-abiding citizens, you curb that by making the courts do their job!
