what if the 2nd were written precisely to read that A well regulated militia is necessary to the security of a free state, therefor the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed in any way ?

Wasn't the 2nd written to strike fear into the hearts of lawmakers ?

Certainly, as always then it is true that common sense should always prevail.

For instance we wouldn't want a psychopathic person to be able to own a dangerous weapon of any kind.

Maybe that is the reason the words well regulated are in the 2nd Amend. to the Bill of Rights.

It would seem that even if Congress can pass no law restricting the right of individual citizens from having at their personal disposal even the most powerful of weapons, that they could limit the type of persons who could be defined as being fit to own either any weapon or any certain type's of weapons.

In this matter then let common sense prevail
