First, His Majesty Bloomberg gave us the "soft sell" for his massive new tax. (because that's exactly what it is) Then came the "false facts", something he always like doing when he's trying to force people to live as he say's they should. (see: draconian anti-smoking laws) Now, we get the "fear" tactic. According to the mayor and his hacks, all life as we know it will end if the mayor is not allowed to do what he loves most, to generate revenue! Apparently, the people have nothing to say about this, save for a handful of wealthy, upper-Manhattan socialists.
The mayors excuse this time is that well-known, bottomless black hole known as the MTA. Perhaps the mayor is not aware of the fact that for "decades", this insatable agency has been given an "incalculable" amount of our tax money, and they still can't get anything done right. Perhaps he also doesn't know that "a piece of every dollar NY'ers spend (ie: gas, electric, phone bills, tolls, fees, etc. and more) goes to the MTA! Maybe they should look for more simply solutions like, doing away with all those huge, ultra-fancy, executive offices for the top people, and perhaps, even cut back on some of those "lavish, unwarrented, and un-earned" salaries they get!
Don't allow "His Majesty" to fool you again. This new tax has nothing to do with traffic. Yes, traffic is a serious problem in NYC, but not only because of volume, but because the city was poorly designed and laid-out from the begining. When it comes to our tax money, the real question is, who's more insatable, the mayor or the MTA?
